Final Day

It is our last full day in Garm. There were snippets of blue sky, the sun shone occasionally and we spent the better part of the day in the office - trying not to succumb to the heat or the fumes emanating from the coal/wood stove in the office. Some man seemed to be under strict orders to stoke on schedule despite the windows thrown open in protest and in hopes of obtaining fresh air.

Although I have been staying in the quarters adjacent to Janice's residence, often guests stay at the guesthouse. In fact a number of full-time national staff live there where a cook prepares their meals as well. I have had the same meals delivered to Janice's (everyone pays for the meals). For lunch today I finally visited the guest house and it seems like a very cozy arrangement. After lunch, Amy and I hiked back up the hill in order to gain a sunnier view of the river valley, lower hills and snow-capped peaks.

This evening was packing and helping Janice get organized for her home-leave. She has been very ill lately so besides lending my travel pharmacy, I lent my organizational skills as well.
